Antique Patchwork cheapest Hot Pad, Pot Holder, Pennsylvania, Calicos with Robins Egg Blue, This is a late 19th c Pennsylvania German patchwork hot pad or pot.
Description
This is a late 19th c. Pennsylvania German patchwork hot pad or pot holder worked in cotton calicoes. The back is really nice with a bright blue cotton with a tiny white dot and the edging is brown polished cotton. The piece is all stitched by hand with a very light batting. There cheapest are no holes or stains but there is a little fading. It measures 6 1/4" diameter. For similar examples, see pg 115 of "Pennsylvania Patchwork Pillowcases 1820-1920" by Ann Hermes.
